How can it be "over there" when it's in our own living rooms?

I was reading the paper today when I was jarred out of my complacency by this juxtaposition:

    I don't think it really matters if it is over there over here.. wherever it may be.. It is hard to not react to the senseless violence and total disregard for human life.
